Advanced Placement (AP)/International Baccalaureate Exam (IB)

Summary of changes:

Academic Senate Resolution passed in March 2026 to shape how external credit was given for 2026 exams. The 2026 matrices will look different than previous matrices because of the change in GE pattern, integration with Cal Poly Maritime Academy, and semester conversion.
Cal Poly Maritime Academy is included in 2026 matrix.
AP/IB/CLEP exams are awarded based on the year you took the exam. Students entering on the 2026-2028 catalog and took exams prior to 2026 will need to reference the year they took the exam. These matrices are displayed in quarter units. Please check your PolyProfile and/or Degree Progress Report once available to see how credits are awarded on the semester curriculum.

Find your AP/IB/CLEP scores that you have sent to Cal Poly

External exams can be viewed on the Poly Profile after they are received and processed. In order to access these scores:

Login to Cal Poly Portal (my.calpoly.edu)
Click on “Poly Profile” tab at the top of the portal landing page.
A summary of Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate, and Credit by Exam will all show (if applicable) chronologically by term credits in the middle of the page.
- Note: New incoming students will not have a Poly Profile or Degree Progress Report until they are matriculated (in July).

We strive to publish the new AP/IB/CLEP matrices for the new year by Open House in April.
