Bridge and Cap Courses

Bridge and cap courses are specialized courses designed to facilitate smooth transitions between different academic levels (like quarter to semester conversion), with bridge courses connecting foundational knowledge to a more advanced course, and cap courses completing a sequence by integrating material from multiple preceding courses. They essentially "bridge" learning gaps, ensuring students have the necessary skills and understanding to succeed in the next level of study.

CHEM 128C General Chemistry for Agriculture and Life Science II Cap (3) Effective Fall 2026

Completes one year of general chemistry for students with credit in CHEM 125 or CHEM 128. Covers material from CHEM 126 and CHEM 129. 2 lectures, 1 laboratory.
Prerequisite: CHEM 125 or CHEM 129.

 

CHEM 216B Organic Chemistry I Bridge (2) Effective Fall 2026

Bridge from CHEM 216 to complete CHEM 2242. Prepares students for CHEM 2244 and CHEM 3352. Half-semester course. 1 lecture, 1 laboratory.
Prerequisite: CHEM 216.

 

CHEM 217C Organic Chemistry II Cap (3) Effective Fall 2026

Completes the material in CHEM 2244 for students with credit in CHEM 217. Covers material from CHEM 218 and CHEM 223/324. 2 lectures, 1 laboratory.
Prerequisite: CHEM 217.

 

EDUC 454C Multiple Subject Clinical Practice II Cap (6) Effective Fall 2026

Completes the material in EDUC 4469 for students with credit in EDUC 454. Concurrent: EDUC 455C.
 

EDUC 455C Multiple Subject Clinical Practice Seminar II Cap (2) Effective Fall 2026

Completes the material in EDUC 4455 for students with credit in EDUC 455. 2 seminars.

Bridge from MATH 141 to complete MATH 1261. Prepares students for MATH 1262. 2 lectures.

Completes the material in MATH 2341 for students with credit in MATH 244. Covers material from MATH 344. Not open to students with credit in MATH 244 and MATH 344. 2 lectures.

Completes the material in MU 2203 for students with credit in MU 105. Covers material from MU 303. 3 lectures.
Prerequisite: MU 105 with a grade of C- or better or consent of instructor.
